Who is responsible for your information?

I’m Abby House, a UK-based sole trader operating as Addiction2Advocate. I am responsible for how your personal information is used for this signup and its follow-up emails.

What this notice covers

This notice covers the MailerLite signup form for Addiction2Advocate programme information, webinar invitations, booking notifications and optional ongoing emails. The signup is for adults aged 18 or over.

It does not cover programme purchases, payment information, participation records, the separate Substack newsletter or Discord community. Any additional information needed to join a programme will be explained separately before it is collected.

What information is collected?

The form asks for your email address, an optional preferred name, your email choices and confirmation that you are aged 18 or over. MailerLite also records subscription and confirmation information, such as timestamps, signup source and technical information associated with signup, including IP address where collected.

The form does not ask for your substance-use history, medical information or recovery stage. Signing up is not a statement that you use substances or are in recovery, and I do not use this signup to assign you a health or recovery status.

How and why your information is used

I use your details to send a confirmation email, record your choices and send only the categories of email you selected:

Invitations to the free programme webinar.

Notifications when programme bookings open.

Ongoing recovery resources and programme news, if you choose these.

The lawful basis for these subscription emails is your consent. The boxes are not preselected. You can withdraw consent at any time through the unsubscribe link or by emailing me. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.

I also retain necessary records to honour opt-outs, handle privacy requests and protect the mailing list against misuse. The lawful basis for these limited purposes is my legitimate interest in administering the list responsibly and respecting your choices. Where a specific legal obligation applies, I will use information as necessary to meet it.

Providing your email address is necessary to receive emails. Providing your name is optional. You do not need to subscribe to ongoing emails to request a webinar invitation or a booking notification. Signing up does not book a place or commit you to a purchase.

Where information goes

Your signup goes directly into MailerLite, which stores subscriber details and sends emails on my behalf. This signup does not pass through Google Forms, Google Sheets, Make or Zapier.

Email delivery and measurement

MailerLite records delivery information, such as bounced emails and unsubscribes. Open tracking and Google Analytics tracking are switched off in my default settings for campaigns and automated emails.

MailerLite still records clicks on links in its emails, and these records can be associated with your subscriber details. Switching off open tracking does not switch off link-click recording. I do not use these records to infer your health, substance use or recovery status. You can contact me if you have questions about email measurement or wish to object to the use of your information for this purpose.

Who can access your information

I manage the mailing list. MailerLite and its authorised service providers process information needed to operate the service. If you contact my Gmail address about a privacy request, Google will also process that correspondence as the email provider.

I do not sell or rent your signup details or give them to other businesses for their own marketing. Necessary information may be disclosed where legally required or to resolve a legal claim.

International processing

I manage the list from the UK. MailerLite states that its data storage centre is in the European Union, but its affiliates and service providers may process information in other countries. Its data-processing terms provide for safeguards including standard contractual clauses and the UK Addendum where applicable.

Google also operates internationally. Information in email correspondence may be processed outside your country. You can contact me for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

How long information is kept

Inactive enquiries are deleted 12 months after the last meaningful contact about the enquiry.

For email subscriptions, I keep your email address and preferences while you remain subscribed and I continue to provide the emails you requested. Subscribers are not automatically removed after 12 months. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting abbyhouse52@gmail.com. I only send the categories of email you selected; requesting a webinar invitation or booking notification does not sign you up for ongoing updates.

If you unsubscribe, marketing stops. I keep the minimum information needed on a do-not-contact list for as long as I operate the relevant mailing list and need to prevent you being accidentally re-added. This record is not used to send marketing. Consent records are kept while I rely on your consent; afterwards, only records needed to honour your opt-out or handle an outstanding complaint or legal obligation are retained.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive a portable copy. You may withdraw consent to emails at any time.

Contact abbyhouse52@gmail.com to exercise your rights or make a complaint. I may ask for enough information to confirm your identity before disclosing or changing records.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. Additional rights and complaint routes may apply in your country.

There are no solely automated decisions through this signup that determine your eligibility for a programme or have similarly significant effects. Your selected email categories are used to organise the mailing list and send the communications you requested.

Changes

This notice will be updated if the way the signup or mailing list works changes. The published notice will display its latest update date.
